Regular bikes, expensive e-bikes, and advanced racing bikes are all easily exposed to harmful rust and corrosion. What is VCI?
VCI stands for Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor, which are, simply put, corrosion-protecting molecules that attach themselves as an invisible film to all metal surfaces that are wrapped. This molecular film prevents corrosive moisture (e.g.) from reaching the metal, meaning the metal will not rust/corrode/oxidize. VCI protects all types of metal and has no effect on other materials such as plastic or rubber. When the bike or parts are unpacked from the bag, the molecules will dissipate into the atmosphere and leave no residue on the bike.
Zerust bike covers are:
- Corrosion resistant
- Water resistant
- Mildew proof
- Rust inhibiting
- UV resistant
Simply clean and dry your bike according to the manufacturer's recommendations in the user manual. With the Zerust logo facing inward, place the bag over the bike and close the zipper. The rust and corrosion inhibitors remain active for five (5) years from the date of purchase.
For best results when using the bike cover, you should place excess material under the wheels.
Note: Although the material used to make Zerust bike covers is waterproof, the covers are not completely watertight due to the process of sewing in the zippers and lining. Since VCI binds to water, any moisture that enters the bag will not be able to corrode the bike!
VCI technology has previously only been available to the oil and gas sector, the aviation industry, the defense sector, and other industries, but it is now becoming increasingly available to regular consumers. We are the first in the country to introduce this bike cover. For oil and gas projects, the use of VCI is required to protect electronics, so we know this works!
